Cycling Sisters is a Bristol Muslim Cultural Society project run by Aumairah Hassan and Seila Mañana.
It has been set up by local women to help support other women, particularly those who may face religious or cultural barriers, to learn how to cycle. It started with a conversation about getting back in to cycling and encouraging other women to cycle too. The response from Muslim women has been overwhelming but all women are welcome, irrespective of belief or colour.
Bikes have been provided by Bristol Sweet Mart and Pak Butchers. We use balance bikes initially and progress on to pedalled bikes. We are operating from Baggator which is perfect because we can close the gates which are screened and we have a private safe space to learn in
Cycling Sisters is supported by Baggator, Pak Butchers, Bristol Sweet Mart and Bristol Muslim Cultural Society.
